Climbers! Come hang out, make friends, and be good Climbers! Come hang out, make friends, and be good stewards of our crags- even those on the Seward Highway 😉.

Remember, the Seward Highway crags are at risk of destruction when the Safer Seward Highway construction begins. The Climbers Alliance of Southcentral Alaska is advocating to protect these crags as recreational areas, but the more we are seen as climbers taking care of these spaces, the better our chances will be to keep them for future climbing.

So! It’s time to pick up trash, starting at Sunshine Ridge, on Thursday, August 14th. 6:00 PM! Climbers Alliance of Southcentral Alaska provides gloves and bags.

Ladies’ Crag Day is nearly here! WHEN: 5:30 PM - Ladies’ Crag Day is nearly here!

WHEN: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM, Wednesday, July 16

WHERE: Meet at the Sunshine Ridge parking lot on the Seward Highway.

PLEASE: Bring gear to sport climb outside, including a helmet, quickdraws, and a rope if you have it. If you’re new to climbing, just bring what you have! Bring layers for any weather (if the rock is dry, we’ll be climbing!), as well as water and any snacks you may want for yourself.

WHAT to expect: This is an opportunity for lady crushers of all experience levels to get out on some rock, find climbing partners, share knowledge, and have fun! While anyone is welcome to join, we encourage attendance from femmes and climbers who feel underrepresented at crags — this is meant to be a low pressure, high stoke environment!

See you there!

Our Community Bouldering Day in Archangel Valley i Our Community Bouldering Day in Archangel Valley is coming up! This event is super fun for new and experienced climbers alike. There will be opportunities to find new climbing partners, catch up with fellow community members, spray beta (don’t actually though), and share the stoke for climbing in our beautiful public lands!
Meet at the Archangel Valley outhouse at 11am. If you’re late and don’t see the group, check the message board at the outhouse for updates.
We will be out there no matter the weather, so in addition to climbing shoes, please pack layers. Bring a crash pad if you have one, and @alaskandirtbag.co is going to bring a few as well.
Our fourth annual Spring Fun-raiser is almost here Our fourth annual Spring Fun-raiser is almost here! On Friday, May 9th at 6:30 p.m. we will be at the Alaska Rock Gym with plenty of fun activities, climbing, food, prizes, and beer!

ALL proceeds from this event go towards CASA!

This year, we are specifically fundraising to replace the Archangel Valley outhouse with a composting toilet, similar to the one in Reed Lakes, in collaboration with Alaska State Parks and Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation.

There will be opportunities to win prizes by filling out climbing-BINGO cards, or in the raffle contest- please note that only the first THREE people to win BINGO are guaranteed a prize, so show up early to maximize your chances. ALL participants to win BINGO will be guaranteed an extra raffle ticket. We have an amazing pile of prizes donated from sponsors far and wide.

The event will cost $20, and does not include entry to the rock gym (which can be through membership, a punch card, a day pass, or a guest pass). The rock gym will also be waiving start-up fees for anyone who buys a membership at the event!

Raffle tickets start at $1 and get cheaper the more you buy. There will be free beer for participants of the event aged 21+, as always. There will also be food available for purchase from El Señor Moose, so bring an empty stomach.

Sponsors include (but are not limited to):
Alaska Rock Gym
Broken Tooth Brewing
Kaladi Brothers Coffee
Wild Scoops
Metolius
Access Fund
Butora
Alaskan Dirtbag Co.
Skinny Raven Sports
Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking

Want to support CASA but don't want to play BINGO, or aren't in a financial position to donate? Donate your time! We are in need of a few more volunteers for the Spring Fun-raiser! Please reach out via email (climbersallianceak@gmail.com) to sign up. Volunteers will get free beer, and one free raffle ticket.

CASA Community Boulder Day! Meet us in Archangel CASA Community Boulder Day!

Meet us in Archangel Valley on Saturday, June 29th for a community bouldering day- this is a great way to get to know new boulders, find climbing partners, and get outside with your community!
We will be meeting at the outhouse in Archangel Valley at 11 am and dispersing to various boulders in the area as people arrive. All ages (with adult supervision) and all abilities are welcome to come! If you have a bouldering pad (or three) please bring it (we suggest labeling it with your name first), but we will also be providing some pads.
Archangel Road IS open at this time, however please remember that the road is not maintained past the Reed Lakes parking area, and consider walking or carpooling with a friend driving a high-clearance vehicle.
All you rope climbers: We encourage you to come and participate, get on ropes while we pebble-wrestle, or just hang out in the valley with us! Who knows, if the stoke and the weather are in our favor, we may just get on ropes later in the day…
Otherwise, prepare for a predictably fun day of unpredictable weather, and we’ll see you there!
